Solar Benefits
The benefits enjoyed by Bulgaria, Romania and Greece are the high levels - and useful levels - of solar irradiation received. The levels are amongst the highest in Europe, and only bettered in parts of southern Spain and Italy. Putting it into simple numbers
in a very simple context, averaging the whole of a country, and comparing Bulgaria, Greece and Romania with Germany, France or Italy - three fellow European countries with fast expanding numbers of solar projects, we can say the following:
- Bulgaria has on average 2049 sunshine hours annually and approximately 5.6 sunlight hours for each day.
- Greece has on average 2756 sunshine hours annually and approximately 7.6 sunlight hours for each day.
- Romania has on average 2228 sunshine hours annually and approximately 6.1 sunlight hours for each day.
- Italy has on average 2538 sunshine hours annually and approximately 7.0 sunlight hours for each day.
- Germany has on average 1738 sunshine hours annually and approximately 4.8 sunlight hours for each day.
- France has on average 1840 sunshine hours annually and approximately 5.0 sunlight hours for each day.
These numbers are of course very simplistic, as due to local differences in altitude and prevailing weather conditions, there are large variations within each country. It suceeds in showing the fact that the Balkan region more than equals the performance of other countries with existing profitable solar industries.
